we drew our own constellations

"The light was leaving
In the west it was blue
The children's laughter sang
And skipping just like the stones they threw
The voices echoed across the way
Its getting late
It was just another night
With the sun set
And the moon rise not so far behind
To give us just enough light
To lay down underneath the stars
Listen to papas translations
Of the stories across the sky
We drew our own constellations
The west winds often last too long
The wind may calm down
Nothing ever feels the same
Sheltered under the Kamani tree
Waiting for the passing rain
Clouds keep moving to uncover the scene
Stars above are chasing the day away
To find the stories that we sometimes need
Listen close enough
All else fades
Fades away"

Intro to Disney!

Hello! And welcome to Disneyworld! I am currently in Florida as most of you know and I am having the time of my life! I have met so many people from all around the world! (no joke!) I've met people from all over the U.S. and i've met people from China, Cambodia, England, Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Thailand, Norway, etc! It's crazy how diverse disney is! haha.
But anyways i havent been eaten by an alligator! phew!
So i work in Animal Kingdom at the Flame Tree BBQ, and i love it so far! My trainer is hilarious and everyone is so laid back.
Yesterday was my first day of like "real" training, me and this girl Tania from New York are brand new and being trained together and we have had such a good time! So since we are working with food we got to sample ALL OF IT. no joke, i havent been that full in a REALLY long time. haha, we had beans, coleslaw, ribs, bbq chicken, pork sandwich, onion rings, fries, fruit plate, key lime mousse, chocolate mousse, 2 different kinds of bbq sauce, and a cupcake! holy! it was delicious :)
ah, free food :D
anyways, so last night after work a bunch of us met and we went to Disney's Hollywood Studios and rode my favorite ride HOLLYWOOD TOWER OF TERROR! (we get in free to ALL the parks, just fyi)
Then we watched Fantasmic which was fantastic!
I didn't have to work today, so i got to stay up late and go have fun at the parks!
But yeah, disney is great. The people here are amazinggg, and i don't even really mind the humidity now!
(I'm sorry this is such a long wordy post that isn't funny...)
Anyways, come to disneyworld and visit me!

it's funnier in spanish.

hi hi
well jq is now in florida! or she's on her way. i wish i could visit her!
anyways, life's pretty good. a few things that have happened since i last posted:
-i still don't have much of a social life right now but i'm a-okay with that.
-we went to a YSA bonfire the other night. it was weird, because no matter how much they push that it should be a "mingle" thing, people still continue to hangout in the groups they are comfortable with. some guy came up to us and said that some girl had him go get the "stats" on a guy for her. umm...yeah. what? girls like that just don't get it. haha. also while at the bonfire a guy we were with told us a joke that wasn't funny at all, and all he said was "it's funnier in spanish." the perfect save to a stupid joke. but really, it is funnier in spanish because it's all about word play in spanish.
por ejemplo- english: what does the dog do when he is in the pool? he swims
spanish: que hacer el perro cuando esta en la piscina? nada.
[you would only get it if you speak spanish.]
-while i was getting my record read in at church on sunday, bishop said "brother kristen noel cagle." i'm no brother! how embarassing.
-i finally have a second interview at a job tomorrow. so i hopefully will have a job tomorrow! wootwoot.
-i have a new obsession with the band citizen cope. SO GOOD. have a listen, if you don't mind.

anyways, it's probably one of the weirdest transitions ever coming home from college. it's just a whole different vibe. but i think once i get a job and start working a lot it will get a whole lot better.
i've been watching scrubs a lot lately. if you don't watch that show, you probably should because it is a good show. aside from all the sexual jokes and stupid humor, it has some really good messages. i almost cried! sheesh.
i'm seeing dierks bentley in concert on saturday!!!! I CANT WAIT! he's playing after the padres game. it i going to be so great- i've never been to a country concert so i am pretty dang excited. baseball+country music= the all american experience.

bada bing bada boom.

Steve Irwin, send me your knowledge please.

well now, i leave for Orlando, Florida on Tuesday!!! Holy cow! I'm super stoked!
except.
theres a problem.......im scared.
no, im not scared of flying across the country
no, im not scared of living in a ridiculously humid place
no, im not scared of crazy new roommates
but yes...im scared of the alligators.
seriously though, my brother keeps telling me about people who get eaten in Florida by alligators! when theyre out running and stuff! AGH!
Alligator Attacks...
I am so scared that this will be me....
drawn by yours truly.
i wish the crocodile hunter was still alive so he could give me some helpful hints on what to do....
RIP Steve Irwin.
but i would much rather hold this than an alligator...
so cute!!
i sure hope this won't be my apartment door...
i would crap my pants...
so im basically scared one will just rip me to pieces...
ill bet he likes eating humans :(
eesh.
wish me luck...that i dont get eaten...

check that off the bucket list

well hello! It's jacquie here, summer is just grand. I just got back from a fabulous week at Newport Beach...heaven. Anyways, about a week ago I WENT SKYDIVING! it. was. awesome. Here's the story:
My mom, little sister Andrea, cousin Paige (who is two months older than me), and myself left Bakersfield at 8am sharp.
Paige made a playlist of songs that would go along well with our adventure for the day:
No Air- Jordan Sparks and Chris Brown
Live Like You're Dying- Tim McGraw
Free Fallin'- John Mayer version
Skydive- Jason Reeves
the list goes on and on....
We made it to Camarillo (Ventura County) around 10:15, and our scheduled appt to jump was 10:30! Paige and I got all geared up, while my mom and sister ditched us to go shopping (lame i know). My instructor was Dan, it was tandem skydiving--so the instructor is hooked onto you...so you don't die. haha. So we got all geared up to go, and we borded our little plane. I was SO stoked! Once we got to 10,000 feet (yeah, you read that right) the door opened. AH! so they have you put your legs over the edge (youre sitting) and you just jump! So Paige jumped first, then it was my turn. We put our legs over the edge and all the skin on your arms and legs like, folds over itself cus its ridiculously windy and then you freeeee fall!!! I can't even describe how free falling feels. Its not like actually falling, its not like a rollercoaster...the only thing i can kind of relate it to is when youre driving down the freeway at like 70mph, and you put your hand out the window, and the center of your hand...thats how your whole body feels. yes, difficult to imagine. Anyways so we jumped at 10,000 feet, going 120mph. WHAT A RUSH. holy, the adrenaline is amazing. Then the parachute goes off, and you fly down the rest of the way. I definitely prefer the free falling to the parachute...but im glad i had a parachute :) Dan let me even fly my own parachute for awhile and it is hard! It's so heavy. Then as you coast down, you get to the little landing area which is just a gravel strip on land. Dan had me lift my legs completely up and he landed then i just put my feet on the ground, piece of cake!
But man, skydiving was crazy. I'm so glad ive finally gone! Thanks for the early birthday present mom and dad! :D
